You have to be broken to be rebuilt

I was born, I live, and, eventually, I will die. End of story, right?

Well, not quite. I‘ve had some interesting things happen to me that I survived that I’d like to talk about. So, go grab a beverage and some snacks and take a seat. Let me tell you a true story that you will find hard to believe.

I’m going to be upfront with you. Some of the things I’ve experienced are not good and perhaps trigger warnings should be included as some of the things I’ve survived are not the norm for a guy to experience. So be warned that some things I’ll talk about in this story may not be suitable for all readers.

You see, I use the word survived, which should be telling.

Not “I’ve withstood”, or “I’ve endured”, but “I survived”.

I’ve survived being buried alive as a kid playing in a construction zone on a Saturday with other kids. Buried under a mountain of construction sand, my world was turning to darkness as the other kids ran home to tell their parents. I survived that when a man pulled me from the sand and saved my life. I remember shaking my head as I knelt on the ground, coughing and crying, trying to see who had pulled me out.
