About Me — Erin Nanasi
So, about me. I’m very happily married, I have a 24-year-old son, a wonderful daughter-in-law, and the most beautiful granddaughter in the world. I was born in San Diego, moved to Minnesota with my parents at age 12, and have lived pretty much all over the country.
I’ve been writing online for nearly 20 years, and have done all the things. Gone viral, interviewed authors, musicians, and activists, founded a non-profit, had a group of neo-Nazis try to dox me, actor Nick Searcy called me a word that rhymes with “bunt” on Twitter and sent a horde of incels after me, and my husband once heard people arguing in an airport over my satirical series about Michele Bachmann.
Now, I focus on writing about mental health. I live with chronic depression, anxiety, and PTSD, and I am borderline “in remission.” I have survived trauma, I am not my trauma. I believe in therapy, meditation, self-care, and the power of hugs.
My goal on Medium is to help people understand mental health issues and to work on ending the stigma that surrounds mental illness. And maybe throw in a little humor from time to time, because we all need to laugh.
