About Me — Evan Grosset-Janin
From early coder to tech explorer
I’m a 19-year-old French developer from Annecy, the pearl of the French Alps. When I’m not coding, you’ll find me shredding powder on my snowboard, hitting mountain bike trails, or just soaking in those incredible lake views. Nature and tech are my two passions — guess that’s what happens when you grow up between mountains and startups!
The Accidental Coder
At the age of eight, I discovered a beautiful language, one of the most complex things humans have created — yep, HTML! Four simple letters that stole hundreds of my hours creating stuff that made zero sense. Then came CSS, and suddenly I was making those incredible (let’s be honest: probably awful) red and blue gradients. Every website I made looked like a unicorn threw up on it, but I was so proud!
The Learning Curve
Back then, things were simpler. Like every beginner web developer, my biggest challenge was “How to center a div”. I must have googled that at least a thousand times! Now HTML and CSS feel like old friends, but I needed more — more challenges, more dynamic projects, something that could make a real impact. Static pages just weren’t enough anymore.
The Explorer Phase
That’s when my programming journey really kicked off. For the past 11 years (yeah, I started young!), I’ve been bouncing between projects and languages like a kid in a candy store. One day I’m tinkering with AI, diving deep into algorithm research (my current obsession, though who knows what tomorrow brings!), the next day I’m exploring data analysis because graphs are cool. Being a student at Bordeaux is a breeze since I’ve already got the fundamentals down — which gives me more time to explore and experiment!
The Discovery
Recently, I discovered something even cooler than just building stuff — sharing it! There’s something special about showing people what you’ve created, even if it’s not perfect. Maybe it’s because when I was learning, every tutorial and guide felt like finding hidden treasure. Now I want to be that person who helps others find their way through the coding maze.
Why I’m Here
That’s why I’m on Medium — to share this journey with you all. I’m not an expert (far from it!), just a 19-year-old French dev student with a passion for coding and a lot of stories to tell. I love learning new things, and through Medium, I hope to make you love them too. I’ll be sharing tutorials, coding tips, and probably some wild adventures in programming.
I initially thought about starting a YouTube channel to share my projects, but writing in English is much easier than speaking it! Don’t worry though — if I ever take that leap into video content, you’ll be the first to know.
