How I Started to Take Some Responsibility for My Health

In this article, I will be giving a highly condensed account of a long and somewhat complex history.

When I was approximately 20 years old, I was stricken with a severe and apparently incurable neurological disorder. In 1982, I was tested for trace mineral deficiencies, and in 1984, I employed a special diet response test. This test was developed by Dr. Theron Randolph, an allergist at a Chicago hospital.

I went on a two-day fast, with nothing to eat or drink except distilled water. I then ate one different unprocessed food at each meal. If a particular food gave me any type of significant adverse reaction, I wrote it on a “do not eat” list. If a food gave me no bad reaction, I wrote it on an “OK” list. After three days of testing, I ate only the foods on my OK list for the next two days. I then resumed testing for three days. I alternated this way — three days of testing followed by two days of resting — for three weeks. I then ate, for the rest of my life, only the foods on my OK list. The only fluid that I usually drink is distilled water. I drink no alcohol. Several times per year I try a food that I have never tested. Some of these I added to my OK list. Some of the foods on my original OK list started to give me bad reactions after some time, and I had to stop eating them.

What is the result? My health has improved enormously. My nervous system is a lot better. My night vision and sense of smell are better. I had a severe case of tinnitus and the ringing in my ears is now much less intense. I lost a lot of excess body weight. I had severe indigestion for many years and that is almost completely gone. My agoraphobia was greatly reduced. I can relax amazingly well and easily, and I usually sleep well. I have not had a cold since 1982. I feel like a normal human being, and my perception of reality is amazingly good.

I do not have diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, cancer, MS, ALS, or arthritis. I take no medications from any medical doctor. I would be willing to take medications if I needed them, but I don’t seem to need any.

Approximately 30 years ago, I met someone at my astronomy club’s observatory. I told him about the health benefits that occurred when I changed my diet. He replied, “You took responsibility!”

Joke:

Question:

Did space aliens abduct Don Rickles?

The answer:

Only when absolutely necessary.

Quote:

Happy is the man who finds wisdom

And the man who acquires discernment;

To gain it is better than gaining silver,

And having it as profit is better than having gold.

It is more precious than corals;

Nothing you desire can compare to it.

Proverbs 3:13–15.
