A Dancing Pollyanna

Of all the stories I have written, this is my favorite topic, and I can go on and on as I am my favorite. Don’t confuse me with a narcissist, I am a self-proclaimed ambassador of Self Love. I love myself, and loving oneself has nothing to do with being selfish or mean.
If we love our gardens, we nurture them. We love our relationships, kids, and take care of them and give our best. Similarly, I strive to feed my mind and soul the best.

My definition of self love is to continuously improve oneself to become the best version of oneself.

Motherland

My homeland is Incredible India, the land of Mahatma Gandhi. It is home to the world’s ancient civilization and one of the world’s largest democracy. Patriotism is in my blood. I love my country and feel blessed to have been born there. For the last five years, I am residing in North Carolina, USA, because I love the dollars too :).

I am blessed with ever-loving parents, a good-natured husband, an adorable daughter. I have a sister who is my mirror-mirror on the wall. But this mirror always shows me the truth I don’t want to see. Yes, you guessed it right, she is my best critique and helps me evolve and grow every day. I would have mentioned my in-laws too, but I think this space is About-me {LMAO, pun- intended, no offense meant, they are sweet people}.
I cannot proceed from this section without mentioning my late father, who was and still his spirit is a beacon of light for me. According to me, he was the most learned and intellectual man ever lived( a daughter speaks). Every fiber of my being is influenced by him. He had a vast knowledge of ancient Indian scriptures, Vedas, manuscripts. I will cover this in a bit more detail later.
Now comes my most vulnerable nerve, harshly pricked and still bleeding. Though, I have mentioned this in my couple of blogs. I lost my baby boy ten years back. A part of me has gone with him. I believe I will meet him one day beyond time and space. I am a believer of the Greater Beyond.
And am infinitely thankful to the Almighty to bless me with an angelic daughter after the irreplaceable loss.

What I do for living is much more interesting than what I do for earning.

For earning am a qualified computer professional having worked in IT for ten years. Let’s leave the rest for LinkedIn unless anyone is offering me a job on my terms here :).

Amalgamation of extremes

I describe myself as a blend of opposite traits. for eg, I am an outright gregarious extrovert. I love being alive and finding fun in anything and everything. My chatters and banters are endless as my people quote. I love being on stage (will talk about it later ). Contradicting myself, I love my solitude and find peace in it. Time and again, I prefer being a hermit crab. I am comfortable in the crowd and isolation. Probably this is why the locked down did not disrupt my sanity, luckily.
I am an early riser, my morning tea is at sharp 5 am. But given a chance, I can sleep for two days and two night in a go. Trust me, I have done this, and I still revel in that rejuvenation. No, I was neither drunk nor on medications of any sort. I was just home alone :).

Pollyanna

My friends call me Pollyanna. It is bequeathed from a 1960 movie with the same name. In this movie the protagonist, Pollyanna, a little girl believes everything can be put into place by a positive attitude, hope, love, and laughter. I don’t mean to brag myself here but I never say die, may what come. My symbiotic relationship to the world is in painting the world in love.

Dancing

If I have terribly missed anything in the 2020 pandemic, it is dancing on stage. The stage, the audience, the music, the claps, green room, the rehearsals are my ethereal ambrosia. I am a dancer, not a professional but a passionate one. Below are a few pictures of myself twirling on the stage.
Dancing for me is mystical and relaxes my mind, body and soul.
My mother did enroll me for Kathak, an Indian dance form when I was a little girl, however I did not pusue it as I grew up. I wish I did.

teach dance to children. This is my experience that we always learn more by teaching children. Their world is so innocent and inquisitive and has endless possibilities for creative innovation.

Work Hard and Party Harder

I am currently holding multiple positions requiring me to work 24/7. I am not complaining rather I love keeping myself busy. I get a dopamine rush by diving deep into work and then I put a cherry on the top via serotonin rush by partying harder. Since gatherings were taboo, thanks to lockdown, I still partied with my family every Friday. After all, you just need some love, laughter, and togetherness for a party, not the headcounts.

Social Butterfly

People call me a social butterfly, and I wear this badge as a compliment. Why they call me this is because I love keeping in touch with people, everyone. I do make it a point to wish birthdays, anniversaries, any important dates, inquire about their parents, kids, my maid, the grocery shop owner. I love reaching out and maintaining a respectful relationship with everyone. Mind it, I am not the nosy one to poke or interfere, but I believe life is too short for any malice or distances.

Public Speaker

I love talking and that too on stage is an icing on the top for me. I have a couple of talks and symposiums to my name. This is my way of liberating myself of my cocoon and connecting with people. There is so much to gain and learn from everyone we meet.

Broken Piece

I am many broken pieces put together. Since childhood, I am prone to accidents, and every part of my body is broken and repaired. Legs, hands all fractured once and mended now. Once, I fell from the stairs, and my back broke. Once I had a head injury. Once my right leg ligaments broke transporting me into a wheelchair. I was so broken that my friends nick-named me as toot-foot (an Indian language word meaning a broken piece). By God’s loving grace I always did bounce back on my feet. Told you, I never say die.

Mindfulness and Spirituality

This is why I call myself an amalgamation of extremes. Behind my talkative extrovert exterior, there is a calm and composed interior. I practice and preach living in the moment. I breathe consciously and meditate methodically. I don’t have a picture-perfect life. Often I get jitters and land into turbulence. I do find myself amidst tempest and chaos but meditation and spirituality are the anchors of my sailing ship. I strongly hold onto them and strive, survive and thrive. I never say die. And since a few months, I have resolved to send my love to everyone and paint the world with love. I believe in collective cosmic consciousness and that we all are part of one big energy. Am much more at peace floating in this consciousness.

The seeds of spirituality have been sowed and nurtured by my late father.

No judging

I do not judge people, stiuations, emotions. Neither do I appreciate anyone judging me or anyone else. Prejudices and judging are invisible impediments for a friendly and love filled co-existence. I once said the below line in rage to a friend and since then it has become my mantra.

Either you judge me or you are my friend

Having said this, I do not hold any grudge against those who judge, I quietly wish them well and change my path.

Love of Languages

I learned to write Russian when I was in 10th standard. A few years later, I learned Japanese from my incredible Sensei( Teacher in Japanese). Three years back, I had an inkling to learn French, I took the plunge. Not to mention I am fluent in Sanskrit, an ancient Indian Vedic language. There are many advantages of learning a foreign language, and voila! I just got an idea for my next blog! Writing begets writing I bet.

‘T’-shaped Writing

I call my writing as T shaped as the ‘long line ( | ) in T represents my specialization, i.e Mind, body, soul, EQ, IQ, VQ, spirituality, better living, love, intricate connection between science and spirituality, relationships, poems on each and everything. The sleeping line ( __) on the top of T is my umbrella under which I explore my writing. This includes any topic which entices me. My work can be found here

Birthday — 9th Feb (Year, whatever you think)

I love birthdays. It is a God gifted date and our mother’s epitome of endurance. If you let me know yours, I will never forget and wish you every year.

Back to where we started from, I love myself and I wish to paint the world with love.

Apart from these, I love to sketch and paint. These are just a few things about me. I could go on and on :). I did warn you in the beginning. However, I will put a period here hoping for a long lasting relationship with you all.

Thank you all for reading
