Me circa 1983 — Somewhere in the United States

I read somewhere that who you think you are is not how other people see you. That basically, you are a different person to every person you meet. I found that profoundly interesting, and it reminded me of a time, a long time ago, when my dad went to my school to speak to my teacher. He was worried because he thought I was too shy, and he wanted to know if there was something we could do to work on it. To his surprise, my teacher told him, “What are you talking about? Isabel’s not shy.”

As you can see, I was fundamentally different in the eyes of these two people.

As a self-proclaimed introvert, I enjoy spending most of my time with myself and my inner musings. However, if the last year taught me anything, it’s that we all need to spend time with other people. Even if it’s only occasionally.

Here are a few “fun” facts about me:

  • I was born with a broken heart… Literally. I was born with two holes in my heart and almost don’t make it to my first year. At the tender age of 9 months, my parents flew…
