About Me — Ishika Singh
I love connecting with new people at new places :)
I remember when I was a kid, we used to have separate conversation classes. And the first day, no matter what grade you’re in, used to be the introduction day. And we couldn’t do that properly. The teacher — randomly — called our names out, and we would go to that empty, invisible spotlight area in front of the board, and all we could see were the wide eyes of our classmates, which made us more anxious.
Phew…I’m glad that time is gone! Because it used to be such an embarrassment for us to face the crowd and our teacher, who was tired of teaching us the same thing every year.
Honestly, I was never enthusiastic about it back then.
But now? Sharing about myself here feels so exciting! As if it’s an achievement.
Hello, lovely readers! My name is Ishika Singh. And I am 17, from India.
Childhood Life:-
I was born in a small town — “Jhumri Telaiya” — in a state called ‘Jharkhand’. I am the only Gen-Z in my house.
My childhood was so much fun. I have always been an enthusiast when it comes to learning new things that suit my interests well. I started my schooling in 2012, and on the first day, I did not cry at all! What a proud! Instead, I was shy and sat on the last bench. And I was wearing my casual clothes — standing out among all!
What I loved the most as a child was playing that teacher-teacher game. I had short hair and would use dupattas to fake it so I could play the role of my class teacher (she was amazing!).
In school, I have been punished many times. I don’t have the data of the number of slaps that I’ve got.
Until I was 4, things were quite good. But suddenly, after that, I remained sick most of the time. Thank god, we got a doctor who saved me.
When I was in grade 4, I fell while playing at school. The upper skin was removed, and it left a permanent scar on my knee.
I have been writing since I was in grade 5. I wrote my first poem titled as just ‘Poem’ in which I have made an infinite number of mistakes.
Since then, I never stopped. Now, I am a writer on Medium, and I’m proud of that!
I published my first article on 4th March, 2023. You may read it:-
How did I land here?
Well, somebody said that I can’t achieve what I want through writing — that I can’t do enough in this field. That created a sense of desperation in my head, and it urged me to search for online platforms where I could tell my stories for free. That’s when I found Medium.
Some Key Points About Me:-
- As of now, I have written over 50 poems. And most of them were written during the pandemic era.
- Writing is my passion. And I love doing it.
- When I was a kid, I used to narrate different stories. Maybe that was the period where this writing thing was building its foundation.
- I love to eat ‘Puri’. I had it in the morning. Also, I’m fond of sweets. And I always wonder about people who don’t like them. Seriously? How can somebody NOT like sweets?
- I admire all girls/women and am always inspired by them.
- In grade 11, I chose Maths. That used to be my weakest subject. Then why did I choose? No idea. Grade 11 was not a good year, but I fought back in grade 12. And now among Physics, Chemistry, and Maths, I love Maths the most!
- English is a member of my family. It has always been and will always be.
- I love everything that I should NOT eat. Ice cream, Maaza, etc.
- My name, “Ishika”, rhymes with my mother’s — “Neetika”.
- The first book I read was ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne. And my ‘Stay Optimistic’ tagline has a lot to do with that book.
- I love watching “The Vampire Diaries”. It never gets old.
- I am a K-pop enthusiast. My first K-drama was “Rain or Shine”. I admire BTS(Sometimes stan them — I’m a diehard supporter. Hehe). Borahae💜💜
- I speak randomly. Anything that sounds gibberish.
- My massi gave me a K.P. Thakhur translation book back when I was just 5. And I started solving translations since then. But my actual English learning journey started during lockdown (I locked my ass in).
- I had a YouTube channel where I would upload my poems in 2020. Again, in 2024, I created a channel and began to upload my singing shorts. And it’s closed now. For what? I’m still figuring it out.
- This year, I’m gonna turn 18.
I have talked about more of my personality traits here:-
And with that being said, I would love to connect with you all. Thank you for knowing me!
Stay Optimistic! :D You guys are phenomenal!!!
