About Me — Jackson Banks
Writer. Husband and Father. Lawyer. Adventurer. Coffee Lover.
My name is Jackson Banks (a pseudonym I publish under) and I live in Raleigh, North Carolina with my wife, son, and German Shepherd. I enjoy cooking, spending time with my family, reading (thrillers mostly), and adventures. I like challenges. I’m currently a writer and a full-time trial lawyer.
I didn’t always want to be a lawyer or writer; there was a time I seriously considered being a police officer or following in my father’s footsteps and joining the Marine Corps. Those options were ruled out, however, when I met my wife my first year of college at UNC-Wilmington. She deemed being potentially shot at a bad idea. I enjoy being a lawyer. It allows me to still serve the public, just without a snazzy uniform or Batman-like utility belt.
I was raised under the scarlet banner of Semper Fidelis and home was always where the Marine Corps sent us. I do not come from a long line of lawyers and am the first in my immediate family to go to college. I went to work at a young age helping my grandfather during the summers with his painting business in Arkansas. My father passed down his military discipline to me (even though I didn’t always find that to be an appealing prospect) and this has given me the discipline I need to be somewhat successful in my life…
