About Me — Janet Jacob
A little introduction
When I was little, I was a really happy kid. I was fearless. I lived in the moment without having any care about the past or the future. I was 5 years old when I arrived at Spain. I was recently separated from my parents and all I cared about was the amount of toys they had in the foster center.
Everyone there loved me.
Despite the fact that I then only had two 5 minute phone calls from my biological parents every month I was the happiest kid of them all.
I was known as the little girl who always had a smile in her face.
At the age of 9, I was separated from my sisters and moved from the foster center to a foster home. I lived in a town of just 55 people and I went from being the youngest sibling of 3 to be the oldest sibling to a 2 year old baby and a 4 year old kid.
I felt so lonely, unloved and misunderstood that smiling felt more of an effort than a state of mind. I do not remember it that well but I know that I was really into reading and I think in a way that helped me escape from my reality.
During all the four ESO years (ESO stands for Educación Secundaria Obligatoria which means Mandatory Secondary Education), I was angry and sad all the time. I didn’t understand my unmotivation towards the things I loved. And it did not help that I was good at hiding my emotions because it meant that I was not talking about it with anybody.
Right now, as a 21 year old woman living in Barcelona I know myself a little more. Just a little more. I understand my anger, my sadness, my happiness and I know who I want to become.
I want to become a woman that knows herself, that has a lot of self-love and doesn’t seek external validation. A confident woman. A woman who is not afraid to speak up when it is needed to. I want to be comfortable in my own skin and I want to be known as a kind and generous person.
The things I am doing to become the woman I aspire to be are daily meditations, journaling, reading, practicing affirmations, getting out of my comfort zone and exercising at least 3 times a week.
You can imagine a little bit what my writing is going to be about right?😉
Why I love Writing?
Writing is a very powerful tool for me to express and understand myself. When I am writing I get to relax and speak from the heart. I love how even if I am spending a whole day writing just a paragraph, I always manage to find the right words to learn how I really feel. I love writing because it frees me and satisfies my very curious mind.
Writing helps me to connect with myself, with my pain and with my joy. It is after writing that I appreciate other things more. Every time I write before dancing I get better at it because it comes from an open heart.
