About Me — Jason Michael
I’m not really an actor, I just play one on TV.
I can’t tell you how many drafts of my introduction are sitting in a folder right now, but I assure you it is quite a few.
I was originally going to start off this introduction by saying what I am not — such as, “I’m not actually a writer…” — and then I would proceed to write about myself in a writerly fashion, then shoehorn some bit about how “…writing is one of many roles I’ve attempted but realize I lack the natural talent to be great at it, but here I am anyway…”
Honestly, that angle feels not so much “writerly” as it does disingenuous and needy.
So the real story is: I don’t think of myself as a writer.
Obviously, I’m writing right now and publishing it for the world to see. However, in the traditional sense of what being a professional writer entails — versus what I am attempting to do here — let’s just say I’m toying around with the idea at this stage.
But you didn’t come to my TED Talk to hear me talk myself out of being labelled a writer: You came here for the sordid details of my past. Well, let’s get to it then…
Survival of the Fittest
It all began back in the 1970’s.
