About Me — Jay Squires
A cautionary tale (with a takeaway): how this writer chose to cook up his life from scratch without a recipe
IN ANY SELF-DEVELOPMENT … There is no linear evolution; there is only a circumambulation of the self. — Carl Gustav Jung
From the beginning it was intentional.
It was as though the great man himself, Carl Jung, was behind me, whispering in my ear, “Don’t bother to take the direct highway. It leads to nowhere. Truth lies where you find it … right there, revolving around yourself.”
The path of the narcissist? I sure as hell hope not.
Still, right from the beginning, I chose to carve my own path through the wilderness.
But let me offer up a little of my present situation first, so that at least one of us will be grounded, then I’ll take you on a deep dive into the beginnings of things. I hope I can entertain you.
I think I can.
The here and now
My dog, Sirius, and I live in a modest home in a proud city. The town is Bakersfield. The birthplace of the Bakersfield Sound, known also as Nashville West.
