I am a professional writer. I am a mother, wife, homemaker, author, writer, editor, a great cook, a caregiver, an agony aunt, a day trader, and a compassionate human being. Yet, I like to focus most on my being a professional writer.
The writer in me
What does being a professional writer mean? For me, it means that I have been writing to earn a living for a large part of my life — that’s close to 40 years — working for various publications in India and worldwide.
I rarely write my bio, but on the rare occasion I do, I like to mention that I have been published in publications on four continents: North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia.
I also like to state that I have interviewed several ministers, celebrities, high-ranking officials, and others during my 30-year stint as a full-time journalist with top-selling Indian English-language publications. As a news reporter, I have been a lead writer for the many publications I worked for. I have written on many subjects, including crime, women, business, government policy, and people’s empowerment.
