I’m sure you all know how writer’s block is – life got in the way: work, exercise, stress. Oh, and I was earning 9 cents a month. Not exactly an incentive to spend my scant free time writing. I spent a not-insignificant amount of time researching and writing an article about Jólabókaflóð – Iceland’s Christmas Eve reading tradition, convinced that Medium readers would be interested in a story about reading, and nobody bloody read it!

I also had two profiles, this one with my real name, that my real life friends and family know, and one under a pseudonym where I intended to publish the stories NOT for my friends and family – the ones about my sex life, my secrets, and the stories about them!

That means I was paying two subscriptions (annoyingly at two different prices) and earning nothing on either of them. So I cancelled the pseudonym profile with its lower follower count and fewer published articles, which may have been an error in hindsight as I have started a new relationship in the last year – it remained secret until relatively recently, and I could have written so much about it under the cloak of anonymity!

Given all that I’ve just written, you’re probably wondering why I’m back.
