I have been on Medium for a year and felt it was time to update my “About Me” story.
My Writing Journey
I remember being passionate about writing when I was in elementary school. I practiced my handwriting until it was perfect.
When I was eight I approached my foster mom with a story idea and she was less than thrilled. Her behavior affected me so much that I stopped writing except for school requirements.
I was nearing forty when I rediscovered my love for writing. Though I thought about journaling when I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2004, I didn’t start a daily practice until over a decade later.
As a midlife crisis loomed, the idea of daily writing became more important, and I began journaling every day. I quickly discovered how cathartic it could be.
I started writing in an online forum, sharing daily entries. I gained many dedicated readers; several said I had writing talent. I took their compliments to heart and began compiling and…
