In my dream world

I run in the mornings, near a beautiful body of water, where I take my son to swim. Some days are for adventure; others are for reading and writing. I enjoy vodka and club or a glass of Valpolicella while eating my nonna’s meatballs and gnocchi. Dessert always includes chocolate and peanut butter.

There are no bad hair days. It’s always summertime. And the Mets just won the World Series.

In the real world

I live in upstate New York, where I’ve been working with college students since 2006. Currently, I teach English Composition courses at a community college. For years, I also taught women’s literature and Italian-American literature courses at a four-year private college.

Since 2010, I’ve run several half-marathons; I ran my first full marathon in the fall of 2019.

In 2016, I gave birth to my clever, adventurous, creative son, Vincent. He loves rainbows, volcanoes, swimming, and picnics.

What I write about

While many of my articles focus on motherhood and relationships, I write about whatever strikes me. I’ve covered topics such as education, mental health/happiness, Italian culture, travel, and true crime. My favorite style of writing is creative non-fiction.

What I hope to accomplish

As an educator, I thrive on knowledge. I’m here to teach and learn new things, read and offer different perspectives, inspire and be inspired. I love being a part of the Medium community. Thanks for visiting!
