About My Name

Though I may have the same name as the celebrity Jessica Simpson, I’m older than her, so it was technically my name first! To add to the coincidence, I’m from the same hometown as a girl named Britney Spears, and once upon a time, we took dance lessons together. I’m more of a tomboy, and I finally convinced my mother to stop making me taking lessons. Britney, on the other hand, rose to great heights. You may have even heard of her.

Where I’m From

So yes, I’m a Louisiana native, but I currently live in Oregon, my husband’s home state. In between there and here, I’ve also lived in seven other states and one other country. Most of that travel was due to the eight years I served in the United States Navy, but not all of it. I’ve got the wanderlust, there’s no doubt about it. Currently working on a move to Costa Rica, as a matter of fact.

What I’ve Done

There’s more to me than geography, though. I’ve dabbled in this and that, and collected some degrees along the way. Not just a sailor, I’ve been a mechanic, an engineer, a sandwich artist, a teacher, a bookkeeper, an operations manager, a bartender…
