About Me — Josephine St John
True Story Tuesday!
Josephine St John was born in Ohio, raised in Arizona, and spanned through most of the US in one form or another. Finding comfort and solace in books, she graduated salutatorian of her class with five full-ride scholarships. In the end, she chose absolutely none of them.
Blue-collar workers, both of her parents suffered from serious health issues. And try as they might, money was never a friend in the house. So Josephine helped where she could by working at a theater. To this day, she’ll often pause in the wide-open door, inhaling the fumes of freshly popped popcorn.
But the plain point of it was, she didn’t attend those five fine universities for one very simple fact. Josephine St John recognized there was always something — a something amiss, a something awry, a something she could never quite get right or pin to account. And not accounting for this mysterious something always led to disaster. She would later discover precisely what this something was, but as a girl in her teens, it was all-consuming and overwhelming.
So at age 18, Josephine St John secretly slipped down to the recruiter’s and joined the Air Force. It was safe. It was secure. It was a straightforward place with neatly penned rules and regulations. She would later look back and wish she had done this differently…
