About Me — Josh Petersen
An Introduction
The weight of my eyelids tells me it’s late, however, the stories swimming in my head keep me awake. I just have to hold on long enough to see how they play out.
When sleep does arrive, it’s short lived.
“Daddy!” Comes a yell from beside my bed as my toddler enters the room.
My alarm clock is set for 7 a.m. but I couldn’t tell you the tune that’s set to play or the last time I’ve heard it.
My boy— religiously — wakes up between the hours of 4 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. every morning and asks the same question everyday, “Dad, can we go downstairs?”
Although my wife is his favorite person, it’s dad who is consistently asked to take him downstairs. Probably because he knows dad enjoys the dark hours of the morning just as much as he does. He also knows dad will set him up with a warm sippy of milk splashed with honey and a show, while dad makes himself a cup of coffee and does his best to capture the story that’s been swimming in his mind all night.
After kissing the wife and seeing her and my boy off for the day, I power up my laptop and begin working. As much as I dream of my writing being my work, unfortunately, that isn’t the case.
