✨ About Krista Aoki
Aloha! I’m Krista Aoki. I’m a web designer and marketer from the American Pacific. Currently, I’m enjoying life from Central Vietnam.
It’s hard to answer the question “where are you from?” because every person who asks expects a different answer. I was born & raised on the island of Guåhan (Guam), but my family moved to the USA 12 years later. Since then, I’ve moved a lot.
That being said, I’ve spent a significant amount of time in Hawaiʻi, Colorado, Thailand and Vietnam.
The past 4 years, I have had the pleasure of working online whilst living abroad. Experiencing the world outside the bubble I grew up in has given me the space to challenge my Asian-American tendency to see what I do for work as self-worth.
Experiencing life abroad has helped me see there is more to life than living to collect paycheck after paycheck.
At the end of 2019, I stopped drinking and started running. Since then, I’ve ran my first 5k, 10k, 21k, and 42k — all within one year. Discovering trail running in November 2020 gave me a newfound appreciation for life and adventure.
