My name is L.A. Strucke, and not just because I love L.A. They’re my initials.
Early Life
My life began 2 months before my mother’s due date. I had a 50–50 chance to live. My first home was an incubator.
My childhood home was in New Jersey on a cul de sac by beautiful woods. It was a great place to grow up. It would have been idyllic — but then my father died right before my 7th birthday. Because of my early loss, I’ve always been fascinated by the topic of life after this life. I believe our spirits go on.
I am a dreamer. I’ve been dreaming since childhood of having a creative life. I wrote poetry from an early age. I had a notebook and made a goal of writing a poem a day.
I inherited my love of music from my father, an engineer who moonlighted as a professional songwriter and pianist. I fell in love with the piano at an early age.
My little sister used to love to hear me play the piano. She died when she was only fifteen. I was devastated.
My musical ambitions
