How it all started

It all started in December 2017, when we were both invited to a birthday party we didn’t want to go to.

Me, Larilu, I decided to go there because of another friend. We had partied hard the night before and I felt like dying when he told me “This is going to be the last time we go out, as I’m leaving the country for good soon”. Long story short: I went with him to this party and he left me alone in an apartment where I knew almost no one.

Abdiel had had an exam the day before, he was studying another due the following Monday, and he was exhausted. He just wanted to relax at home, and wait until the day to visit his family in his hometown arrive. But he knew that this birthday party was important – he was friends with the birthday girl, not like me –. She loved her birthday and she wanted all her close friends to be there that day.

There he was, in that huge balcony, behind the improvised bar making cocktails when I arrived. He saw me, but I didn’t see him.

I think an hour had past and I found myself alone looking at my Instagram feed that wouldn’t update anymore. Instagram stories weren’t a thing back then, they didn’t exist. My friend was partying hard already with his other friends and I…
