About Me — Laura Jevtich
Who Am I? Laura Capuano Jevtich
I am a 53-year-old woman, a citizen of the United States. I am originally from New Jersey, Exit 135 and 100B on the Garden State Parkway, better known as Westfield and Avon-by-the-Sea, respectively, and combined.
I spent my childhood summers at the beach, learning to body and boogie board surf, and was fascinated by the ocean.
I was a strong, late reader. I learned to read in first grade when my teacher would give me stickers for every chapter read. I soon had a massive sticker collection only surpassed by my book collection. Books became my escape route, so much so that I missed out on the world around me, as my head was always in a book.
One Lent I gave up reading books! That Easter, instead of chocolate, I had a basket full of books to read.
In high school, I took two courses that would change my life: Creative Writing and Environmental Science. The first class would help me write better throughout my life. The second helped me realize I love the outdoors and could work in a field that I enjoyed.
