When I received

’s request that I submit an author profile to his new publication, I was reticent. Talking about myself, or breaching my protective privacy by any other method, has never been something I’m particularly comfortable with. It’s interesting that writing as a practice is one of the most solitary and introverted activities imaginable, but career success for a writer involves publication and publicity. A successful writer is expected to do public readings, answer questions, shake hands, and sign copies, much in the way a politician might hold events. It’s important for even the most introverted of writers to remember that, even though their craft is done in isolation, their career is likely to be quite social.

I am a non-fiction writer, and I generally write articles about philosophical or psychological observations. There’s really no rhyme or reason beyond that; I’ll discuss envy, insanity, morality, wisdom, happiness, etc.; I go wherever my curiosity happens to take me. My books, on the other hand, furnish an opportunity for me to make a deep dive. They assume, for me, the position of a more pragmatic form of writing. I hope to change things with my books. My articles mostly propose questions, whereas my books contain answers. Here are a few of my most popular articles to serve as examples:
