About Me — Mary Ingram
A lady with a hammer, a cabin in the woods, and a heart to serve…
I love building stuff!
I’ve never had any formal training, but it is fun learning new skills. I built this table and chair set for my granddaughter. A ton of love went into this project!
Nine years ago, I began building my cabin in the woods. I want a life that is simple, yet significant.
I am building a nonprofit organization — Volunteer Nebraska. Inc. Our mission is to empower youth to make a difference in their community and their world. We provide at no cost, a recognition program for kids preschool to high school who do service. Our program serves the youth of Nebraska. It is a simple program that can be easily replicated. Simple, yet significant.

I’m committed to being a lifelong learner. When you want to do something but you don’t know how— do it anyway!
In 2012, I published my first book, The Fallen. I wrote the story for a man who was serving 25 years to life in a Nebraska prison. After receiving the manuscript, he began creating the illustrations. The book has been shared with prisons and juvenile programs across the United States.
In June 2021, I found myself standing on a TEDx stage in Gainesville, Florida. My talk is titled: 3 Simple Questions to Empower Our Kids
My next challenge is to build my audience here on Medium! When you want to do something but you don’t know how — do it anyway!
