About Me — Meggan Barraza

A Budding Writer and Entrepreneur

Hello! My name is Meggan and it’s a pleasure to meet you. I think I am a fairly simple person. I like reading, listening to music (genre doesn’t matter), watching TV (documentaries and docuseries mostly), and spending time with my family.

Wow, I think that was my shortest intro yet. I wish I could say I am joking. Almost any time I’ve been asked the question, “tell me about yourself,” I’ve said something similar. I don’t like talking about myself, but I do think there is value in what I have learned over the years as a working professional and now budding entrepreneur.

Like many who have found themselves on Medium, I have thoughts and ideas I think are worth exploring. If I am being totally honest, writing for me is a learned skill. I did not grow up writing in a journal daily or submitting essays to writing competitions. In fact, it wasn’t until my sophomore year of college that I really started liking school and valuing academic success. To give a background on my education, I have a bachelor’s and master’s degree in history. Given my major, writing was a skill I had to learn and hone. While pursuing my master’s, I found myself working in Real Estate Title where I have been for the past 5 years.
