About Me — Mera Baid Kaur

I love writing, I hate writing about myself. I began writing songs as a child, that became poetry in my late teens and from there the bug bit me. I’m happy to write in any genre now and that has led me to a diverse array of work in my adult life.

A lot of people find that to be strange and I guess this is where I begin to look like a hippie. We might need to start with a definition.

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary

hippie: a usually young person who rejects the mores of established society (as by dressing unconventionally or favoring communal living) and advocates a nonviolent ethic

It’s probably true that I reject many mores of established society, but I’m a millennial, it seems that most of us do, so at some point, we become the establishment, it doesn’t seem like rejection anymore. I don’t think I dress unconventionally, but it’s possible, I don’t pay much attention to conventions. I favor communal living but I live with my nuclear family and would not easily run to a commune if given the chance.

Mostly because I know it’s not an easy way to live without some firmly established guidelines. I have tried (that might make me a hippie or former hippie). I don’t actually advocate…
