I just moved a fifty-pound jewelry armoire my wife is refinishing into our living room. It’s a stunning piece, repainted in soft ivory, with French aphorisms of love inscribed in different scripts across the top and bottom drawers. At its center is a bouquet of wildflowers in an ornate vase. I’m immensely proud of this small married moment. Lifting something heavy for my wife — a piece of furniture that’s a work of art — is my peak bliss.
It’s moments like this that fuel my writing.

I’m not sure. I was born loving stories, and I thank God every day for that blessing.
