A Gen-Z Gamer Struggling to Balance Academic Pressure
Hello Everyone!
I am a Gen-Z individual born into a typical upper-middle-class Indian family that places a high emphasis on academic excellence. I am currently pursuing a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). My parents don’t support my hobby of playing video games, despite knowing that I am a huge fan. Only my sister, Mehak Adlakha, supports my hobbies to some extent, provided I achieve good marks.
My content will mostly revolve around gaming theories, reviews, and opinions. I own a gaming laptop, which I obtained after much hardship — a story for another day. To date, I have played many great games, and I believe gaming is a great way to escape a hectic schedule. It brings me peace and feels like it completes my life. Gaming is a very important part of who I am.
Interestingly, my interest in gaming was sparked by none other than my father. He used to make me play games when I was very young, around 3–4 years old. I think he felt proud that, despite my young age, I had so much knowledge of games and computers. We used to play MotoGP together on our old PC — those were the golden days of my life.
In 2013, he even bought me a Sony PlayStation 2 and used to bring me PS2 games from Karol Bagh in Delhi, a PlayStation market. The joy I felt from playing WWE Here Comes The Pain, CALL OF DUTY, FIFA 14, God of War, NBA, GTA, and more on my PS2 was perfect. I am grateful to my father for all of this!
Current Scenario — To this day, I am longing for a PlayStation 5, but my father always says, “Buy yourself a PS5 with your own money once you get a job.” Cut to my sister Mehak Adlakha. She has a well-paying job and a very big heart towards me, but she’s also been procrastinating buying me a PS5 for the past six years.
And my chase for a PS5 still goes on!!!
