About me, what can I say? As an individual in his twenties, I am putting a lot of effort into improving my career while supporting my family. Here I am, seated at night ‘not the darkest yet’, constructing an idealistic picture of my future. I have been grateful of late, as I have had a respite from work which has enabled me to go back to writing. And today is the day that I have waited for to join Medium where I will talk about my life history including the lessons learned and the how the things went wrong, and some ideas that might help you think and encourage you to become more than you thought possible. Let’s improve ourselves, shall we? There comes a time when a walk of life becomes easier because you have someone else along with you.
I know how much you want to hear more of me to talk about myself rather than get into any form of philosophy. So, let’s jump right in!
My Life Journey
The canvas of my life timeline, begins in the newly developed country in the year 1998, an unplanned one after envisioning the United Arab Emirates. The doctors have communicated to my parents that there are very slim chances of survival but, the good Lord in his own wisdom allowed me entrance into the world. This rang a loud gospel truth in my ears that I was meant to be here in spite of the challenging situations, then clearly the Almighty had something in store for me. Even in the course of my life, I have experienced numerous obstacles some of which have tempered my character in a way, much the same way that a diamond is tempered.
When I was four years old, I completed my nursery education in the UAE and shortly after that, my family had to go back to Pakistan to look after my sick grandparents. I still remember quite vividly the images from my flight from UAE to Pakistan, as this was quite a significant event for me. This was because for the first time, I had been in an aircraft, that had taken off and was flying above the clouds with some captivating scenes. It was such a great spectacle, and the concept of flying captured my imagination. This experience wooned a permanent place in my heart
Since childhood, I had a burning desire to become an aerospace engineer in Pakistan, and I always wanted to put that passion for planes into good use in the form of a profession. I dedicated myself throughout my academic journey and in a way or another kept my head straight towards the goal. After high school, I decided to return to the United Arab Emirates. Because I was so interested in flying, I enrolled in Emirates flying University’s Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering program. However, the COVID-19 pandemic completely reshaped the world at the time I started my studies. The situation created in everyone’s life by the pandemic was such that to envisage any of the plans brought many of us struggles. I found myself making the difficult choice of leaving aerospace for another field altogether. It was the hard times, nonetheless I knew that one has to adjust to progress.
Such a narrow shift in my profession brought me to the supply chain business where I was able to stand on my own two feet as an Ivalua functional consultant. It was however not the path that I had first intended for myself, however, it has given rise to a new realm of possibilities. While working in Lahore, Pakistan, I acquired the knowledge regarding how procurement and supply chain management work and also found out that I have the desire to create more efficient systems within the organizations.
In the course of their career, as I have been progressing, I have accepted the challenges and the benefits which this career provides. Also, I’ve realised how important it is to be adaptable and open to learning new things regularly. My experience in this specific role has allowed me to participate in several initiatives that have involved helping the customers improve their operational efficiencies with regard to the procurement process as a whole. In this sense, it is important to remember that life is quite dynamic and that circumstances can change in unexpected ways, therefore one must make the most of them.
Though my visions of soaring high in the sky as an aeronautical engineer have changed and shifted, I have come to terms with the fact that the core of the journey still remains intact: the need to scale higher heights, both on a personal and professional level. Every step I make, be it while flying high or when in the field of supply chain management, is one step closer to actualizing my dreams.
The Power of Reflection
Meanwhile, as I recount my life’s journey, I hope to inspire others to reflect on their own life trajectories. Life is not a garden of roses, as they say. Therefore, regardless of whether the final result is not what one had hoped for, one must nevertheless value the process. Each and every situation, whether good or bad, helps one grow and change them. I guess that sharing the childhoods of some of the peoples’ dear ones helps them out in some ways in achieving a goal. In this platform, I will not only present my encounters but also the principles I have picked up on the journey. I want to help build an environment where we can have productive interactions, encourage positive development, and most importantly, learn from failure. And true to what Robert Frost has said:
‘Life is actually a quest, and I am more than ready and willing to take this quest alongside all of you’.
So, let’s do this!!! I am so eager to present my even more detailed stories and revelations as the chaos of life and work unfolds. Let’s elevate ourselves through a consistent process of development and motivation. After all adversity is not a dead end but a brief detour, and it is possible to look forward and dream with a generous spirit backed by hard work.
