About Me — Mwangi Wanjau
Walk with me for a few minutes.
Let me tell you the story of a boy who grew up in a city in East Africa and made his way to the other side of the world. He faced many trials and tribulations, but even through all the hardships, he remains happy and grateful.
Background
I was born and raised to follow my passion. My parents never directed me in any specific direction nor did they choose a career for me. I find that quite liberating, but it also makes me feel lost and confused at times.
For a long time, I had no idea what I wanted to do in the future. While all my peers in high school found their true callings, I was stuck trying to figure out what mine was.
Like so many people, I had a myriad of interests and choosing to do one was like choosing one part of me and throwing the rest of myself away. What I did discover about myself early on was that I have a huge interest in numbers and solving problems.
My journey has not been easy. After receiving an offer to study in Canada, I was stoked, I thought I made it to paradise. But what I didn’t expect was the ton of challenges awaiting me.
I landed in university alone and I had to build a foundation for myself from scratch. New environment, new people, new culture.
