About Me — Neil Pavitt

Writing because I have to, not because I want to.

My name’s Neil and I live in England with my wife and son.

This is meant to be a bio of me as a writer. But even though I’ve spent my life writing, I don’t really know if I can call myself a writer.

Most of my career has been spent working in London advertising agencies like Saatchi & Saatchi. But that’s copywriting. It’s selling to people. It’s not real writing is it? If I met someone I would feel comfortable saying I was a copywriter but not a writer.

Since leaving big agencies I have worked for myself writing copy for websites etc.

But I also have ideas in my head I need to get out to the world and Medium is great for that. They are like a traffic jam that is slowly getting longer and longer. If I don’t get rid of them by writing, they’ll all start honking their horns.
