About Me — Nicole Maharaj
Once upon a time, there was a Canadian born West Indian, who discovered she had a talent for storytelling. A talent I have used so far unsuccessfully writing novels (Or trying to at least). I wrote three novels (One unfinished) in the Fantasy genre. I started writing one in the Science Fiction genre, also unfinished. Now after two lockdowns, and one failed attempt I have nearly finished the first draft of a Romance Novel. Which I’ve never really attempted because I have nearly zero experience in the love department. The novel itself might be loosely based on my own tragic attempts at love but sometimes the best stories are the ones that come straight from your heart.
My favorite form of storytelling is actually on the spot storytelling. Which I would’ve never known I was good at if I hadn’t started telling out loud stories to my nieces. Both of my nieces, love stories more than anything. I loved sharing my love of storytelling with them so much that it became a tradition every Christmas Day.
At first, it was just me, retelling my favorite fairy tales; Cinderella, Snow White, and Aladdin. Eventually, I started to make up stories, my favorite story was a retelling of Peter Pan that involved mysterious treasures and pirate shenanigans.
