I’m Noran. I write on things I care about, from learning and personal development to politics and social issues. I work as a software engineer at Google, though all opinions I share online are entirely my own.
Two truths and a lie
- I was featured in a story in Reader’s Digest Australia, and I’ve never been to Australia.
- I climbed three mountain ranges on three different continents.
- I have a form of synesthesia which makes me see color when I hear certain words.

I studied: computer engineering in my home town of Cairo, Egypt, followed by two Masters degrees in Austria and Germany. I completed my PhD in Germany in 2016 in the field of Automated Reasoning, which is basically about making computers think.
I live: in London since 2016, where I’m working as a software engineer.
I believe in: Islam, socialism, social justice.
I love: reading, writing, science (especially astrophysics), 90’s hip hop, languages, art and design, piano, long…
