MEET ME :A core value makes everyday meaningful for me
It was 10 years of being a child, 10 years becoming an adult and 10 years of studying, being married, mothering and being an adult. That’s 30 years of existence, 3 decades of different experiences in a fairly unfair planet Earth, with just a similarity all :LOVE.
Yes, I love love, because that’s one thing that makes me feel exceptionally good, I love love because I thrive more in its feeling, I love love because in it my life’s values remains relevant. Most especially and most importantly I love love because it is good in itself.
That’s one great thing I learned from my cherished Friend, he’ll always say
“do it because it’s good”, when it’s done mostly because it is good, it takes a rational bearing, it becomes in the interest of the majority”.
And I think everyone should anyway, cos LOVE makes the world go round.
Born a native of the East, the better part of my years revolves around the west, West Africa, Lagos city precisely, where hustle and resilience intertwines with the people. The city taught me that I have to be, especially emotionally strong to survive, she breeds toughness within one unconsciously. She’s a city of many colours, a home of entertainment and fashion, a commercial center for Africa and beyond, her daily traffic gridlock is one that teaches endurance and patience. She is — an economic hub. she accommodates, that’s what most people love about her.
You’ll see a supreme being whom I so trust, a loving husband who’s been my bedrock, four beautiful children, my parent and siblings, and two current close friends in my treasure box. I cherish them so well.
I bagged my first degree in Economics 2015, quite years now. A month ago, I graced my higher institution best friend’s Masters valedictory ceremony, it was awesome, half expectedly, I stumbled into my undergraduate supervisor at the ceremony and she asked “ Chidinma, when will you be coming for your Masters” and I said “soonest”, smiles, It’s really going to be soonest, not because she’d asked, I’ve had that as my 2022 plan. I have to finish up with my 2021 grocery store target. Yeah, I currently manage a grocery store.
Smiling always and so hard to points of tearing up in between my smiles is an act that amazes even, and I shed lots of tears too to points of laughing in between my tears also. That’s crazy and weird, right?. And sometimes, I feel a little dislike with these stuffs about me because some persons could see it as being vulnerable, but that’s who I am. And guess what….
Those are my strength. I smile a lot because I perceive almost everything with an innocent and positive outlook, and I cry a lot too because I’m highly sensitive to everything and anything around me.
Weirdo!!! That’s how I define my kind of weirdness. Most times people refer to me as being calm, that’s from a distance though. My being weird comes at intervals, that’s me just being me…. Meryl Streep rightly posits that
“What makes you different or weird, that’s your strength”
My interest for travel and adventure took me to the Middle East, it was quite funny how their sumptuous basmati dishes held me spell bound, I never wanted to return to my Lasgidi, but home love was stronger.
I have a little garden at the front of my apartment and a mighty almond tree, that’s the little we, my husband and I could afford in our little space, our home. There I connect with mother nature whenever I weed them. This weekend, I will be inviting the horticulturist to come give our tree some treatment, we already are noticing some harmful pest on her lately.
I currently revamped my study room. That’s a very important corner to me in my home, everyone knows because that’s where I connect with myself, my supreme being, my books, my journal. I read a lot, that’s one hobby I grew up with, and off recently, I write a lot too, that’s one of my unforgettables of 2020, the year gifted me with time and discoveries into writing, concentrating more but not limited to truths about love, human feelings and emotions, nature and identity, all still in my study room. I spent most of the lockdown within the four walls of that room, that’s where I found Medium. I’m quite optimistic that Medium will be an indelible part of my life’s journey not just as a reader, but also as an enjoyable writer.
I sleep a lot too, lols, that’s so you know I’m not the overly serious type. But so you know also, I take my family, my friends, my garden, my books and my business serious.
Amidst the uncertainty of life, drawing strength from: ‘LOVE, FAMILY, HONESTY, PRESERVATION OF NATURE, READING, And BEING ME ‘ has been enough guide and push for me living a happy and meaningful life.
