"To sum up a life in words is like trying to contain the ocean in a cup; it can never capture the depth and breadth of what lies beneath." - Unknown

This human is made up of so much, has seen far and wide and has been through a lot.

All these cannot be summarised into a single post but then I thought,

If biographies and autobiographies of the great people we love today were all written for the very purpose of capturing history into a moment,

Why can't I do that too?

So,

Here goes what you need to know about this multipotentialite.

My name is Omolola Onifade.

I was born and brought up in the Northern part of Nigeria, West Africa.

  • My tribe is Yoruba. I am a believing Christian.
  • I’m the 1st daughter of my family. Comes with a lot of responsibilities too (especially in this part of the world).
  • I am a Biomedical scientist by professional training.
  • My dad was a philomath and it greatly influenced my thirst for knowledge and learning.
  • He was a Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology while my mom is a business owner.

Growing up taught me a great deal of lessons as I navigated my way through life.

3 of them I hold dear to my heart are:

  • Never trust people blindly. Be willing to see the good and bad in people and act accordingly.
  • You alone have the ability to change your life. It doesn’t matter how much you have failed or how long you have tried, it all boils down to how much you are willing to stand back up.
  • Life is not fair to anyone. What may be at an advantage for A may be a disadvantage for B. Sad but true. So get up and do something to shift the odds in your favour.

Personal Interests and Hobbies

  • I am a music lover.

My favourite music genre is gospel, pop and slow songs.

Some of my favourite songs of all time are:

  • Oceans by Hillsong
  • Broken Vessels by Hillsong Worship
  • You say, Trust in You by Lauren Daigle.
  • Fighting for me, Healing by Riley Clemmons
  • Jireh by Naomi Raine
  • Holy Forever by Cece Winans
  • I love to sing a lot.

My greatest inspirations come from singers like Riley Clemmons, Loren Allred, Taya Smith, Lauren Daigle, Naomi Raine among others.

  • I adore dogs.

They are always so special and friendly (depending on the species). We once had a golden retriever named Jeff. I loved him so much. He died some years back.

I find dogs particularly interesting because they look like they have something to tell you but can’t because they can’t speak.

It’s just as Christopher Morley puts it:

No one appreciates the very special genius of your conversation as the dog does.

They are like my safe space where you can be raw and they will keep your secrets. Hope to get one soon.

  • Movies are my thing

Watching movies are a way for me to relax and unwind.

Thrillers, Fantasy, Musicals and adventure does the trick for me.

If it gets my heart pumping, my feet on the edge or generally makes me excited, that would do it for me.

Some of the best on my list include:

  • The Greatest Showman
  • Fall
  • 2012
  • Damsel
  • Twister
  • Skin Trade
  • Jawan
  • Police academy
  • Titanic
  • Dangal

Unique facts about me

  • I am super attracted to smart people as it creates room for deeper and meaningful conversations.
  • I am an introvert so I prefer being alone most of the times.
  • I derive delight in being in nature, watching the birds chirp, the trees dancing and the wind blowing over my skin.
  • I love to read books especially those with a lot of stories in them and those that teach me about God. Authors like Brian Tracy, Benny Hinn, Watchman Nee, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Charles Dickens, George Orwell, Chinua Achebe, Ngugi wa Thiong’o, Enid Blyton inspire me so much. Here are some of the books I own.

  • I have explored several industries over the years ranging from writing, graphic design, affiliate marketing, book publishing, proofreading and editing, transcription, Defi, cryptocurrency, content creation, blogging. Yeah it’s a lot.
So that’s basically a snippet of who I am.

Writing on Medium

It started few years back and due to several reasons, I couldn't continue.

Mostly lack of time, lack of understanding the platform and the fact that I preferred to read articles than write on here.

But after a lot of hiatus, I am here to begin writing fully.

My interests are:

  • Writing (tips, journey)
  • Books I enjoyed reading.
  • Personal development
  • Documenting my journey (wins, fails)

I’m here to build, explore as well as connect with like minds on this platform.

So,

Tell me about you and what was your inspiration to start writing on medium?
