About Me — Patricia Coons
Through Windows
A person cannot be summed up in an “About Me” story. We as human beings are too complex to do that. There are variety of complex avenues to explore in one single individual. However, it’s feasible to give others a window to glance through. The question remains, what window do I give you?
As I peek through the rugged window of an old miner dinner hall, I see the gray granite mountain walls sprawl around me. This is my home and has been my family’s home since 1891. Living in the beauty of Colorado speaks to my soul. Being outside in this state refreshes my spirit and energizes me. Whether it’s hiking, skiing, fishing, hunting, or gardening, all the outdoor activities of this state bring me joy and fill my heart.
Silhouetted on the upstairs den window are valentine gnome window clings. In the den there are two desks sitting opposite to each other; one shared with my husband and one for my child. This is the room where we homeschool. We spend hours in this room almost everyday learning and growing. One of my greatest desires is to see my child as a self-sufficient adult ready to take on life. I absolutely love the quote, “Never feel sorry for raising dragon slayers in a time where there are dragons.” That is what I do in this room, raising a dragon slayer. Preparing her to take on the dragons of life.
