About Me
About Me — Philip Ogley
A brief biography of that fool holding an apple below
Why are you holding an apple?
Because I work and live on a dairy/cider farm in Normandy.
Who are you?
I’m a 48-year-old Englishman from Leeds, who emigrated to France 10 years ago.
What do you do?
Nothing…much.
I’m a jack of all trades. In French, un homme à tout faire. In the past, I’ve taught English, worked as a holiday rep, managed outdoor festivals, an extra, run a bookshop, been a chef, a pool boy, a lifeguard, a magazine editor, and a barman. Plus I’ve done endless manual jobs that normally involve moving concrete from one place to another.
In my previous life, I worked for AstraZeneca as a research scientist. Now I work on a farm, which is better. I also write (too much) on Medium.
What’s your favourite food?
I can make the best spaghetti bolognese on the planet. One day, I’ll share the secret. I also like brown rice and fish curry, and rarely eat anything else, except sandwiches for lunch. You may find this strange, but this alternation between the heavy pasta, and the wholesome curry keeps me in perfect condition.
