A little bit about me — well, the ‘me’ I was when I wrote it in 2021
Hello! My name is Pierce McIntyre and I’ve been writing stories on Medium since the end of June 2021.
When I first signed up for Medium, I expected to maybe write one or two stories a month, but it’s now the middle of August and I’ve already written and published over 20 of them. I’m currently working on ideas I have for the next 10 (or so) stories I’m going to be doing on here.
So, yes, I’ve definitely found writing on Medium to be an addicting thing!
A little bit about me…well, first of all, I’ve been lying to you so far. Pierce McIntyre is not my real name. It’s my pen name. It was inspired by these two guys:
On the left is Hawkeye Pierce (played by Alan Alda) and on the right is Trapper John McIntyre (played by Wayne Rogers.) They were both characters on the television series M*A*S*H, which is one of my favorite series ever.
So, why do I use a pen name? Well, most of all, I think it’s kind of fun to be Pierce McIntyre in public, but then be a different person in private. It’s like having a secret identity — just like a superhero does!
But it’s not like I’ve taken this all too far and now I lay around in my home dressed up in a superhero costume all day long. Well, maybe I do and maybe I don’t. I’m not saying. You don’t need to know everything about me.
In my “real” life, I live in Delaware, USA with my lovely wife .
We have a lot of fun together and we specialize in random acts of extreme silliness with each other. We often joke (sort of) that it’s a good thing we found each other, because no one else would put up with us and our ridiculousness.
In addition to having very similar senses of humor, we’re also both writers. We love bouncing our ideas off of each other and sharing our stories with each other before we share them with anyone else. It’s wonderful.

Most of my stories here on Medium so far have been about music, which has always been one of my greatest passions. It’s a very, very rare day that I don’t listen to music. I admit that I’m totally addicted to it!

As you can see, I like writing about a variety of things. I’m very excited to keep writing and publishing here. Also, I’ve found another very nice benefit of being a part of Medium: new friends! In just a short time, I’ve been lucky enough to develop new friendships with some of the great writers I’ve met here.
Medium is more than just a place to share fiction and non-fiction. It’s a great community for people to write what they’re passionate about and then connect with other people who have the same interests and passions.
I think that’s a wonderful thing.
