About Me — Rahnuma Jahan Namira
On a journey to tell my stories
As an introverted person, I’ve always had a hard time introducing myself. When I was looking up ways to get started on Medium, writing an About Me article came up as a way of easing in, but it feels the toughest for me.
But here I go.
So, Who Am I?
I’m an electrical engineer who abandoned her hard-earned degree for a career in writing. I loved engineering school, don’t get me wrong. But I graduated in 2020, right when no one was hiring.
Confused by the chaos around the world and unsatisfied with my academic career ending in an unexpected way, I turned to freelance work — more specifically to writing!
What gave me the confidence that I could be a writer?
During my undergrad, I didn’t just write one thesis — I wrote dozens. In fact, I was the go-to person among my peers for writing. I could articulate myself through words with ease. I had a habit of tweaking and changing sentences until they sounded just right.
Also, I read lots of books — did I mention that? So, somehow I landed on the idea that if I can read a lot, maybe I could write a little too.
