I am an Asian Indian, born and brought up in India’s Bengaluru city — famously known as “the garden city of India,” once upon a time; but now widely recognized as the “Silicon Valley of India!”

But for almost two decades now, I have been living in America.

My Journey to a New Life in 🗽

After graduating from engineering, what started as an obscure and far-fetched idea in my mind became a reality in the fall of 2002: After flying some twenty-plus hours, I set foot in the United States; carrying — a typical Indian student’s baggage: food(home-made snacks to mitigate home-sickness, of course), clothing(extra for the east coast), and other essentials(can’t forget the “woodland” shoes marketed to work in all weather🤔))…, and the dream of achieving a Master’s degree!

But most importantly, this 8000+ miles journey would not have been possible without my parent’s backing — especially my father’s! The following facts didn’t deter him: I was a young lady, and also, the first person in the immediate family venturing out all-alone to the…
