Becoming a software engineer and working as a global freelancer was never part of my aspirations.
Destiny had other plans
After finishing my matric exams with good marks, I was ready to quit school to find work and support my family financially. At that time, higher education seemed out of reach due to our financial situation.
However, a man from my village visited our home and urged my father to enroll me in college. My family couldn’t afford the expenses, but he eventually convinced them and even helped me manage my costs during my college days.
In 2005, I passed my Intermediate exams with an A grade. Once again, there were discussions about ending my studies and starting a job, but fate had other plans.
I went to Lahore and passed the entry tests to secure admission to a BS in Computer Science program. The university fees were beyond our means, but my parents and extended family provided unwavering support that words can hardly capture.
After every semester, my family worried about how to gather the funds for the next semester’s fees, a challenge we faced every six months.
