About Me — Richard Fang
A marketer trying to find much more to life
So, where do I start?
Unlike many of the other submissions I've read, I don't have an interesting backstory to start off with. I was born and raised in Sydney, and the most radical thing I did was go against my parent's wishes and did marketing instead of finance as a career (I still finished my finance degree, though 😂).
I started writing on Medium because I felt pretty bored at work one day and fell in love with being able to express my thoughts and passions and the fact I got more than 10 views on an article. I have always enjoyed writing but have enjoyed my last few years on Medium, steadily writing when I want with the flexibility of writing what I want.
As someone who works in the tech industry as a marketer, of course, this means I decided to start my adventure writing specifically on startups and tech.
I do have a huge passion for tech, but when I imagined being a marketer straight out of college, I was thinking bigger picture, especially working on brands and more B2C marketing.
Instead, I fell into the world of tech, which has brought me numerous opportunities and experiences I would have never received if I had stayed in other areas of marketing.
