My internship at 95.1 Love Radio

My Hometown

What’s good? My name is Ron Christian Nacionales. I was born and raised in Baguio City, Philippines. I have finished the course Mass Communication at the University of Baguio, and I’ve always been passionate about news reporting, news writing, participating in live radio programs, and of course, doing sample voiceovers.

Check Me Out!

I’m a blend of all things nerdy, fandom-driven, trendy, and beyond. I have a huge passion for music. My friends and family members remember me for having to bring my pair of earphones or headphones when going outside the house. This experience immerses me in a world reminiscent of a video game, bringing a unique vibe to my walks outside as the rain pours down.

Game… NEVER Over (1)

Speaking of video games, I’m game to play a ton of them whenever the mood strikes me. I started to play at the age of three. During that time, I played a lot of Nintendo games. I remember how difficult it was to beat each stage in Contra (NES) without having the cheat code for 30 lives.

I still remember the thrill I had when my cousin gave me a PlayStation 1 as a 2004 birthday present. Games like Metal Gear Solid, Time Crisis, Marvel vs. Capcom, Metal Slug, Tekken 3, Metal Slug, and the Megaman X series were among my favorite PS1 titles.

Playthrough… Continues (2)

Nostalgia was prominent throughout the time. I always visited to my uncle’s place only to watch him play some PlayStation 2 games. PlayStation 2 games were solid! Games like Tekken 5, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Metal Gear Solid 3, Soulcalibur III, Final Fantasy X, Kingdom Hearts, and countless more!

My Golden Age of Gaming (3)

Time flies, and I got my PlayStation 3 during 2013. My first two games were Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and WWE 13’. PS3 games were really expensive, so I had to rely on borrowing from relatives and close friends.

My most recent gaming system is a PlayStation 4, which I purchased in 2016. It was a gift from my dad, despite receiving my first-ever “77” grade in mathematics in 9th grade . Probably the best moment for me to get a PlayStation 5 is when Grand Theft Auto VI comes out.

Never Too Late to Elevate

My instinct driving me to create Lo-Fi Music

The occasional boredom with video games is something I experience as well. Because of this, I took the opportunity in making lo-fi music as a pastime during the pandemic. I used to be a guitar player in high school, and I still recall getting everyone in the class jamming together.

My debut as a Second Year Representative at The Mediatrix Society

I had a blast during my college days especially during my internship. I participated in an organization (The Mediatrix Society), wherein I got to experience the role of being a representative.

I am fortunate to have experienced the world of journalism and broadcasting, where I got to create my own news articles and publish them in newspapers and online.

For some reason, I never get bored of doing voiceover projects for sample radio commercials because for me, there’s something aesthetically appealing about combining various audio effects and elements to create a finished product.

The opportunity to have hands-on experience with a variety of broadcasting equipment, including cameras, teleprompters, lighting, and mixers, is something that I’m grateful for.

Additionally, I enjoyed participating with my classmates in radio sessions, when we were asked to respond to a given topic that could be watched and heard live.

Those were just a few of my important and fun experiences during my internship as a Mass Communication graduate.

Me and My PC

A part of me likes the thrill of a research, as I spend a lot of time on my PC. On the creative side, I’ve also used several software to make layouts that I’m proud of.

I love photography, and I always take the opportunity to take the shot. Video editing is something that interests me wherein I can make something that I enjoy watching both while editing and viewing the finished output.

Work Experiences

In 2023, I secured my first part-time work as a quality assurance analyst for multiple podcasts around the world like Gutsy Health Podcast, The School of Healing, FRINGE, and OPEONS. My tasks were carefully listening to a podcast to check if there are some components that needs to be edited before publishing.

My Genpact colleagues and I celebrate the completion of our process training (November 10, 2023)

Later on, I got a job as a customer service agent at Genpact, where I developed my work professionalism. My travel time was quite challenging to say the least, considering that I have to travel thirty kilometres to go to work and go home every day. I handled financial account specifically for a credit card, and I am responsible for handling payments, checking fraudulent accounts, and other more queries.

I am also managing my sneaker reselling page where I aim to build a community of sneakerheads that share my passion for collecting unique and hype sneakers. One day I hope to build a platform where users can buy sneakers, get insights, and interact with followers through special offers and exclusive content.

Why Medium?

I enjoy writing about a wide variety of topics that are relevant to my interests and hobbies on Medium. I’m especially interested in video games since I can explore game design, trends, and my own gaming experiences. I’m fascinated by tech, and I enjoy learning about the newest devices, programs, and advancements that impact the digital landscape. Another theme I love is nostalgia, which is thinking back on the past and how it affects our experiences now. I also like to share practical advice and life hacks that might simplify everyday tasks.

“A strong man doesn’t need to read the future, he makes his own.”

— Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid

This quotation from the game Metal Gear Solid often comes to mind when I think of writing about overcoming problems and achieving balance in life. What this concept reflects is my perspective in life, wherein I think it’s more important to make my own way in the world than to sit around and hope for the best. By simply putting my emotions and ideas into writing, I could reach out to those who may be going through something identical.

I want to inspire people by sharing my experiences and interests. This way, I can engage my readers with meaningful topics that reflect my interests while building a deeper connection with them

Through My Journey

With that said, I would also like to include a note and express my utmost gratitude to my families and friends for their unconditional support in helping me achieve my goals. Bonus praise goes to my chihuahua, Mugsy, who stayed with me throughout my time in high school, college, and working career. They have all had a significant role in shaping my life and creating the person I am today.

Along this journey, I hope to put my drive and imagination to good use in ways that benefit both my professional and personal life.

Thank you, Medium, for supporting my effort to write and be able to share this to everyone! For further information on my work and to examine my portfolio, you can check the link below:
