I’m a person, not a brand.
Hello! I’m Sara, a lifelong writer with a terrible habit of not writing things. I’m hoping to change that. For real this time!
What topics might one expect from me? Here on Medium, it could be any of the things listed in my bio, some combo, or something else entirely. For example, maybe one day I’ll buy an illustration of cats performing “Cell Block Tango” on my way to a Mensa meeting for anxious lesbians, and that’s what I’ll write about. (The cat print, obviously.)
If that sounds like a journal entry and not material meant for public consumption, well, you’re not wrong. But I think I can make it mean more. I just don’t want to be boxed in by declaring a precise area of focus.
Confession: Most of the writing advice (or even worse, content strategy) in the age of blogs and social media makes me so anxious, so completely intimidated, that I just… stop.
I’ve seen and heard (not just on Medium, but on the whole of the Writing Internet) that you’re supposed to find your niche, develop your brand, tick off a whole list of boxes to get people to read your stuff.
