An introduction to me, a one week old Medium writer.

Hi, Medium community, I’m Sara!

I’ve been on Medium for about a week now, I for some reason decided to jump right in with a bit of a random first story, not really knowing how to navigate the platform on an effective level, nor realising this seems to be a very heavily US populated site.

So, I’ve spent the past week avidly reading and digesting all the useful hints and tips that other Medium users have kindly wrote about and so, this is the beginning of “Take 2”.

My name’s Sara, I’m from the UK, currently living in London and in my third year of University.

I have been super interested in social justice topics for years now and am excited to begin writing about them here.

I’m “mixed race” (there’ll be an upcoming article on this soon no doubt), one of my parents is White English and the other is Black, and from North Africa.

Because of this I’m really intrigued by the concepts of racial identity, belongingness and “home” and how potential personal struggles with these impact on daily lives.

At University, I’m studying Medicine. I don’t really know if by *studying* medicine, you can yourself a “Medic”, so i’m going to err on the side of…
