About Me — Sarah Koontz
Welcome to my little corner of Medium! Imagine we’re meeting at a cozy coffee shop (or perhaps bonding over our mutual disdain for waiting in line). I’d love to tell you a bit about myself — who I am, what I do, and why I’m here spilling words on the internet.
I’ve always been driven by curiosity and creativity — the kind that makes you wonder how things work, why people feel the way they do, or how tacos manage to be so universally delicious. That creative energy finds its way into just about everything I do, whether it’s writing stories, diving into big questions, or dreaming up new ways to connect with the world.
Now, let’s talk adventures, because life has handed me some gems. I once met Vanilla Ice at a Walmart in my hometown in Iowa (yes, that Vanilla Ice). I’ve traveled to Israel, been on TV (humble flex), and for a questionable yet entertaining chapter of my life, I dabbled in thirst-trapping on TikTok. (Not exactly my proudest work, but hey, we all have seasons!) This year, I packed up my SUV and with my husband, drove across the country, chasing sunsets, snacks, and some much-needed perspective.
I’m also deeply passionate about my faith and the work of inner healing. I’m a Christian who loves travel, art, and psychology, and I’m currently working on a book about art therapy from a Christian perspective. I strongly believe that much of the work of evangelism still needs to be done within the four walls of many churches, fostering healing, restoration, and deeper connection with God.
For me, faith and creativity are deeply intertwined. Art can help us express what words can’t, psychology helps us understand how God wired us, and travel reminds us just how beautifully vast His creation is. Whether through writing, conversations, or a mix of taco-fueled inspiration, I want to share stories and ideas that point to grace and growth.
What can you expect from my writing? A little bit of everything! Musings on creativity and faith, explorations of life’s quirks, practical advice (sprinkled with humor), maybe a recipe or two, and probably a few oddball ideas that make you smile. I’m here for the journey, the conversation, and maybe even the debate over whether pineapple belongs on pizza (it does, but I’m open to being proven wrong).
So, whether you’re here to stay or just passing through, welcome. I’m thrilled you’ve stumbled across my little digital home. Feel free to say hi, share your thoughts, or just enjoy the ride.
Here’s to curiosity, connection, and a faith that transforms — not just outside the church, but inside too.
Cheers,
Sarah J Koontz
