In October 2020, I was asked by Quy Ma to submit to this publication and introduced myself to the little number of followers I had.
Nearly two years later with almost 2000 followers, it’s time I re-wrote the script.
My name is Shamar M. I never disclose my second name, which is highlighting the PTSD from when I was at school. Teachers and peers mocked my name and never were able to pronounce it properly.
For some reason, being African wasn’t cool enough in the early 2000s and late 2010s where I live, but the times have changed.
I’m based in the United Kingdom. My country is falling to pieces at the moment due to the insane living crisis, but it could be worse. Way worse. Sometimes you just have to count your blessings, show gratitude, and let go of the external forces.
There’s not that much to highlight about me, given my young age of 25. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology and dropped out of my Human Resource Management master’s — even though it was free — because COVID just completely ruined the vibe for me.
