About Me — Stephen Haydock
Hello, what a pleasure it is to meet you — my name is Stephen Haydock and I wanted to introduce myself as I begin my Medium journey.
I’m 29 years old and currently live in Manchester in the UK. I live with my girlfriend and our cat, Hobi (named after J-Hope from BTS for all the K-Pop fans). I grew up in Bolton and went to school and sixth form (college) there. I played sports including rugby and football for teams in the local area. I am a HUGE football fan so, by default, I support Bolton Wanderers and am in my 22nd year as a season ticket holder.
I have always had a passion for sports. I assume this comes from being thrust into it at a young age by my parents. I remember going to watch my older brother play rugby and thinking, ‘I want to be part of a sports team’. Anyone who watches or plays sports can understand all the positives that come with being in and around sports from such a young age. The character building, the team bonding, the discipline required; there are so many traits I have picked up and use in my life on a daily basis and it is such an important aspect of my adult life.
Growing up, I always wanted to have a career involving sports but I was never good enough to take the step and make it as a professional. But the passion was there…
