About Me — Sushmita Singh
From dreaming of mountains to embracing writing and more
I never thought I would be a writer.
All I ever wanted was to live in a small house in the mountains, get a job that pays well (preferably a librarian), and get a dog.
I never knew how I would do it, but it was my dream. Until I got the chance to actually live in the mountains and I realized there are enormous spiders in hilly areas along with a variety of insects I hate.
I kept my bed away from the wall all the time because I was terrified that some spider would climb on me when I was asleep. Spiders are the reason that now I want to live near an ocean.
And just like that, dreams keep changing.
Because once we get to live the life we have always dreamt of, we realize it’s not as good as we had imagined it to be. So, we create another reality, another dream to make ourselves feel better. To have something to work towards.
But even until 2 years ago, my dream never included writing. Now, I can’t imagine my life without writing. It sounds cheesy, but it’s true.
I am still not at the stage where I want to write every single day or I feel incomplete, but I am sure I will get there.
