A handshake, a fist bump, a how-do-you-do

(I’m sorry for rhyming in my title. It’s not intentional, I promise.)

I’m notoriously late to every party and that includes Medium. My dad would say I run on “Indian train time.” For some context on the punctuality of Indian trains, he was once shocked to find his train arriving five minutes early, only to realize that it was the previous day’s train, arriving 24 hours late.

Here is my long overdue introduction.

For those who’ve been with me since the start, first of all, thank you. Sincerely. I came to Medium in late November of 2024 with absolutely no expectations; just some stories I wanted to tell. I was able to share a few of those stories with you under the previous handle of this account, RealStories.

The sincerity and kindness you offered me in return has humbled me in so many ways. You didn’t have to take a chance on a new writer — especially not with a handle like RealStories, when, let’s face it, we’re hoping most stories labeled as non-fiction are in fact real.

I suppose there are some things we can’t take for granted anymore, like the humanity and authenticity of art. In that spirit, this account handle has been changed to Tara B…
